Search results build in stages: indexed, then impressions, then clicks, then customers. Judge trends over equal periods, not day-to-day moves.
Good to know. RankAI tracks this for you. Check your Analytics page about once a month.

Customers find you on Google, Bing, and other search engines such as DuckDuckGo and Yahoo. RankAI’s search numbers come from Google Search Console, so they cover Google only.

What your Analytics page counts

For impressions, clicks, positions, and Top Movers, see Google search metrics. The Search Traffic Opportunity and Projected Growth Timeline on your Home page are estimates based on keyword search volumes, not measured results.

How to judge progress

  1. Compare equal periods, such as the last 28 days against the 28 days before.
  2. Look at which pages and search terms grew, not just totals.
  3. Note big changes, such as new pages, rewrites, or seasonal demand, before drawing conclusions.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Reacting to one day. Daily numbers swing; trends over weeks matter.
  • Reading CTR alone. If impressions double and clicks stay the same, CTR halves, but you didn’t lose any visitors.
  • Expecting AI Overviews separately. Google includes AI Overviews and AI Mode in its overall search numbers.

What to expect

  • Impressions grow before clicks. See What to expect.
  • The newest day or two of data can be incomplete.
