# Rewrites and updates

> Why RankAI keeps rewriting published articles, which articles it picks, and what you need to do.

**Publishing is never the end.** SEO and AEO are experiments: you rarely get a page right on the first try. Most tools stop once an article is live. RankAI keeps going, like an agent working around the clock: it watches your search data and your competitors, and rewrites pages until they work.

<Note>**Nothing to do,** as long as your website and Google Search Console are connected. RankAI picks articles, rewrites them, and republishes them for you.</Note>

<Info>**In RankAI:** Sidebar → **Analytics** → **Rewrite Queue** · `rankai.ai/dashboard/<project>/analytics`</Info>

## How rewrites work

<Steps>
  <Step title="Watch">Every week, RankAI checks your published articles against your Google Search Console data.</Step>
  <Step title="Pick">It picks articles that haven't been updated in the last 14 days and aren't working yet: no search data, or an average Google position below the top 50.</Step>
  <Step title="Rewrite">It rewrites each one to answer the search better, for example with a clearer opening, a stronger title, or questions the page missed.</Step>
  <Step title="Republish">With **Auto Publish Blogs** on, the update goes live automatically. Otherwise it waits for you to publish it.</Step>
</Steps>

Then the loop repeats. Articles that reach Google's top 50 are left alone; the rest get another try.

## What it costs you

Nothing extra. Rewrites don't count toward your monthly page allowance.

## Your options

* See which articles are waiting for a rewrite in the rewrite queue on your **Analytics** page.
* Edit any article yourself at any time. See [Write and edit articles](/workflows/content-production).

## Avoid these mistakes

* **Judging a rewrite the next day.** Google needs time to recrawl the page. Compare a few weeks before and after.
* **Leaving Search Console disconnected.** Without it, RankAI can't tell which articles need work.
* **Editing in your CMS.** Your changes can be overwritten by the next rewrite. Edit in RankAI instead.

## What to expect

* The same article may change several times over a few months. That's the experiment working.
* Pages improve in steps: first impressions, then position, then clicks. See [What to expect](/getting-started/first-results).
