# Google search metrics

> What each Google search number on your Analytics page means, how it's calculated, and what to expect.

**These numbers show how Google sees your RankAI pages.** They come from Google Search Console and cover your target countries.

<Note>**Good to know.** Nothing to set up beyond [connecting Search Console](/integrations/google-search-console). The newest numbers can lag by a day or two.</Note>

<Info>**In RankAI:** Sidebar → **Analytics** · `rankai.ai/dashboard/<project>/analytics`</Info>

## The basics

| Metric | What it means | How it's calculated |
| - | - | - |
| Impressions | How often a RankAI page appeared in Google results. | Total count reported by Search Console. |
| Clicks | How often someone clicked through to that page. | Total count reported by Search Console. |
| CTR | Share of impressions that became clicks. | Clicks ÷ impressions. 20 clicks from 1,000 impressions = 2%. |
| Position | Where your page usually appears. #1 is the top result. | Average position, weighted by impressions, so searches shown more often count more. |

## Where you see them

| Section | What it shows | Time range |
| - | - | - |
| **Performance Overview** | Running totals of clicks and impressions for your RankAI pages (articles, landing pages, tracked URLs), in 4-day steps. | From project start, up to 365 days. |
| **Keyword Performance** | Each search term your RankAI pages appear for, with position, impressions, clicks, and CTR. Sorted by impressions. | The selected range; 180 days by default. |
| **Top Movers** | Up to 10 search terms across your whole site that moved up in Google. | Last 7 days compared with the 7 days before. |

A search term appears in **Top Movers** only if it rose at least one position, ranked in the top 50 in both weeks, and had at least 25 impressions in each week.

## What to expect

* Impressions rise first, then position improves, then clicks follow.
* Position can drop when you start appearing for many new, broader searches. That's often good news.
* A Search Console click isn't the same as a website visit in your own analytics tool.
